Hepworth Blonde BeerA cold glass of beer at the end of a hot summer’s day can give untold pleasure, especially when it tastes fantastic and is brewed in Sussex with local ingredients.

The Hepworth Brewery in Horsham has a cracking selection of delicious beers made with local ingredients. While I prefer the Blonde lager in this heat, I can also highly recommend their ales and stout as well.

The blonde is made from Organic barley from Goodwood, grown to Hepworths’ specifications and hops are provided by award-winning grower Chris Dawes in Bodiam, East Sussex – so you could not get a more local beer.

Each beer is available in 500ml bottles and cold filtered to retain flavour, except for Propect and Christmas which are bottle conditioned.

Using barley and hops grown in our home county, Hepworth’s Sussex at 3.5% abv is a traditional pale ale with a hoppy character. A true Sussex Ale – this is Hepworth’s first beer to carry the Warranty of Origin.

Named after the renowned railway carriage, Pullman at 4.2% abv has a crisp bitterness and clean flavour.

Prospect @ 4.5% is traditionally brewed using organically grown malt and Admiral and Golding hops. A Pale Ale with good bitter character balanced by a small amount of crystal malt.

The latest addition is Sussex Conqueror Stout at 4.5% which combines the character of roasted barley with the toffeeness of crystal malt and the balancing bitterness of Sussex grown Admiral hops to give a sumptuous flavour
