We now stock some very special free range chicken and duck from an 82 acre farm in Devon. Creedy Carver ducks can be found on the menu at Tom Kerridge’s The Hand & Flowers, the Ivy, Gordon Ramsay’s Hospital Road and Maze restaurant, and their chicken is championed by Michelin-starred chef Angela Hartnett.

The reason for the Creedy Carvers exalted status? The small farm concentrates on ensuring that all the birds have fantastic welfare – with specially heated chicken arks offering protection and warmth to small flocks, along with open access to grassy fields. They are fed on a low density, GM free, additive and antibiotic free diet to allow for slower growth, greater maturity and better flavour.

There is a processing plant on site, which slaughters and packages the birds so that there is no travel and minimum stress.

The duck is simply the best I have had – melt in the mouth tender, and full of flavour. The chicken is also full flavoured, succulent and tender – as it should be. Both duck and chickens come with giblets, so you can make a mighty gravy or even start the meal with livers on toast (cooked up in a little brandy!)

If you would like to take a regular order of a chicken or duck once a week, we will offer 10% off – do speak to Sam or myself for more details.
