Christmas must have been pretty busy on the Isle of Wight, as we have only just started receiving their cheese again. It’s great to see the Isle of Wight Blue Cheese back in the shop as it is undoubtably one of the stars of the deli counter.
The Isle of Wight Blue Cheese is a naturally rinded soft blue that is so tasty, creamy and delicious – it’s not surprising that it has won numerous awards at the World Cheese Awards (amongst others). It is hand made, using pasteurised Guernsey cows’ milk from the herd that graze around the Queen Bower Dairy. We recieve them when they are about 4 weeks old and with about a three week shelf life. The older the Isle of Wight Blue Cheese is, the more creamy and stronger the flavour.
Apologies if you have been missing this, but hopefully we should have a constant supply for the rest of the year, along with some other fantastic local cheeses from Sussex and Hampshire including Tunworth – as well as other British classics.
