The wood-fired kitchen is now open for summer lunches from Wednesday to Sunday 12-2.30pm for the rest of August. While our menu changes, we will keep a selection of pizzas and sandwiches, chips and salad – with specials such as burgers and hot dogs.
Each meal has a distinctive Stansted taste – created using local ingredients. This weekend we have a pastrami sandwich with melted cheese and homemade pickles. The pastrami uses Hayling Island salt marsh beef, brined for 7 days, cold smoked then hot smoked, before being thinly sliced, topped with cheese and finished in the wood-fired oven. It then fills a Westbourne Bakery roll and is complemented with our homemade pickles. It’s a serious lunch, and will set you back (in my humble opinion) a very reasonable £7.
We also have a chicken and aubergine pizza using our homemade pizza dough that proves overnight. The aubergine is roasted first, before layering the pizza base. We add garlic aioli, Creedy Carver chicken, mozzerella and basil before it is cooked in the wood-fired oven. It is finished off with Gavin’s homemade chilli sauce, olive oil and seasoning.
We have tomato salads using Wayside Organic tomatoes and our homefry chips are full flavoured, crunchy and how a chip should be.
Come and join us in the Courtyard for summer lunches – you won’t regret it. For groups of 6 or more, give us a heads up by calling 02392 413 576. We also do parties for kids as well as adults – with craft beer, cold drinks, ice cream and more.
