Wine Tasting – Friday Morning.

This Friday 13th October our wine merchants, Mason and Mason, will be in the shop offering three wines to taste.  They specialize in organic wines and will be available from 11am to 1pm.  Feel free to come along and sample the wines and speak to them about your preferences, matched to what you like to eat. We have some fantastic steaks that would go very nicely with the Cotes Du Rhone.

Montepulciano d’Abruzzo “4 20” 2016, Italy, Abruzzo (red)

The super ripe and velvety Montepulciano d’Abruzzo “4 20” also has a little tannin and bitterness to bolster what seems like a wall of dark cherry fruit. Such a joy to drink!

Cotes du Rhone Rouge “Confidence”, 2014, France, Cotes du Rhone (red)

With a little air, this dark red starts to open out and smell of soft, lightly spiced berries. It’s fairly chunky in the mouth with shag-pile (velvet is too smooth) tannins and slightly sweet fruit with a chocolatey finish. It’s crying out for a rib-eye with béarnaise or grilled lamb with crabapple jelly.
Les Granges Belle Mare, Piquepoul-Sauvignon-Vermentino, 2016, France, Languedoc-Roussillon (white)
This has a brilliant colour of pale yellow and green hues. Fresh nose of white flowers and fruits. Fresh peaches, melons and tropical fruit on the palate. Freshness, texture and delicious persistancy of flavour.
