Preparations are well underway for our annual party – but this time we are officially launching the new Farm Shop on Saturday March 10th, 10am-2pm. We will have a market of local food and drink producers in the courtyard (the full list is below) and will kick off with a Mexican cookery demonstration by Thomasina Miers, founder of Wahaca and masterchef winner at 11.15am. She will be using local East Marden Lamb, Hispi Cabbage and Purple Sprouting Brocolli amongst other seasonal produce.
Prue Leith CBE will then offically open the new farm shop at Midday and the celebrations can begin. Gavin will be serving 6 hour slow cooked BBQ pork buns with a selection of delicious salads, there will be pizzas for kids and you can have an almighty taste selection as you tour the market. Lunch is £5 per person.
My suggested route would be as follows:
Sinah Honey – John has hives on the estate and his honey is outstanding
Winchester Distillery – A pre-lunch gin tasting should get you going, including Twisted Nose with local watercress.
Beefit Biltong – have a taste of lean, healthy protein for your market tour
Emsworth Brewhouse – try one of their four brews for a smooth, refreshing drink.
Yarty Cordials – if it’s too early for a beer, then a delicious cordial is a great alternative. They also make outstanding vinegars and rubs.
Bolney Wine Come and sample some of our local wines and see what the fuss is about.
Big Green Egg – with tasters of our sausages, chicken thighs and purple sprouting broccoli, hot off the charcoal BBQ, this will be a popular destination.
Sauerkraut Company. I would highly recommend some sauerkraut to go with your venison sausage, and there are five flavours to choose from.
Sussex Condiment Co – Our neighbours from the Watergate Estate make fantastic dressings and mayos, and their hollandaise sauce with BBQ purple sprouting has to be the match of the day.
Lyburn Cheese – Mike Smailes, the Lyburn Cheesemaker will have a range of New Forest cheeses to taste, including Old Winchester and Stoney Cross. You might want to head back to Bolney Wine for a nice red accompaniment.
Caroline’s Dairy Ice Cream – Time for a decent bit of pudding – visit Caroline’s Ice Cream Van for delicious local Ice Cream.
Montezuma’s Chocolate – And what a way to finish, with a huge array of lovely Chichester Chocolate! That should sort out Mother’s day and Easter…
If you are interested in coming, please do let us know as we are trying to keep numbers under control so that we can all have a great time and a proper celebration.
