We have a number of new products in the shop as we are tempted by new suppliers, producers offerings and innovations.

We have a new wine wholesaler, the Independent Sussex based Hennings Wine, who are helping us with matching wine with food for our seasonal suppers and introducing some fine English wines as well as excellently priced wines from elsewhere.  If you are tempted with venison at the moment, I would heartily recommend the extremely drinkable Côtes du Rhône Loron et Fils 2017, a blend of Grenache and Syrah with a fruity palate or red berries, soft spice and a hint of pepperiness. (£10.99).  We have two new English wines, the sparkling Wiston Estate’s Blanc De Blancs NV  (Toasty, buttery nose, balanced and fresh) and Albourne Estate’s White Pinot Noir and will be adding more wines as we get busier. The wines come with tasting notes and Hennings will be joining us for our Farm Shop party so that you can taste a nice variety.

On the booze side of things, we have some great new cooking brandy and port sachets so that you can make your sauce without having to drink from your own supplies or crack into a new bottle.  The ‘Just a Splash’ packs are a great alternative to brandy or port in any of your recipes and are £2.25 each.

We have another Sussex producer on the shelves this week: The Great British Porridge Co. based in Worthing.  These are delicious, instant porridge packs, ready in 60 seconds. Each resealable bag holds 7 servings and costs £5.65.  As the founder, Jacqueline said:

Our porridge is sweetened naturally with dates that have been ground into the oats ( no big lumps ) and made creamy with coconut milk. It’s made from 100% natural ingredients that have been ethically and thoughtfully sourced. The porridge is vegan and gluten free. We use the best ingredients, it’s packed full of ‘the good stuff’.

While I don’t consider myself a sweet tooth, I am slightly addicted to a decent Florentine and am very excited that we are now stocking Thomas Fudge’s Dark Florentines.  We also have some excellent new Peanut Butter from Proper Nutty with an ingredients list of one: Peanuts.  No palm oil here!
