We are very excited to be stocking Gospel Green Cyder again after a break of two years. This is a superb ‘traditional method’ cyder using only the finest apples hand selected from the Blackmoor Estate. They use the champagne method, where Sussex apples are fermented for 4 months in vats, before a minimum of 10 months in the bottle to get the double fermentation.  Once this fermentation is complete, a dosage is added in order to develop the ‘brut’ style of sparkling cyder: a unique method of production for Britain.

Made with 20% cooking apples and 80% eating apples, Gospel Green Cyder has a wine-like body and quality with an intense apple flavour and a crisp acidity. The result is an extremely special bottle of delicious cyder that should be drunk like a light champagne (8.4% ABV).  It was described by Olly Smith, Cider Category Judge at the Great British Food Awards 2018 as

“Bright with a super-dry zing, perfect to serve in place of a top sparkling wine, or to pour with a cheeseboard for a real treat”

We used to stock this wonderful Cyder in our old shop, but the then founder, James retired, and sold the company to one of his customers.  He’s still involved with helping out, but it is now run by Brock and it’s great to have this amazing local product back on our shelves.

You know it’s going to drink well when James tells you that he first started making cider at the age of 10.  There’s some serious experience and knowledge in each bottle.
