We now have over 80 cheeses in our chocker cheese counter, with all the best local cheeses now supported by the Best of British and finest French, Italian and Irish cheeses. Our knowledgeable suppliers can source almost any good cheese, so even if we don’t stock the cheese you are after, we should be able to order it in for you.
Our local cheeses are seriously good, with supreme champions and multiple award-winners from Tunworth to Isle of Wight Blue. Altogether we stock more than 30 cheeses from Sussex, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, with another 35 from the rest of the UK. We have some notable new entries including Cornish Gouda, Baron Bigod and new season’s Yarg, wrapped in wild garlic. We have a choice of Somerset Cheddars, Nottingham Stiltons and Welsh Wax cheeses, led by Black Bomber, but including Harlech and Y Fenni.
The British Cheese scene has rarely looked so good, the choice is superb and the quality is world-beating. However, there are one or two gaps that our continental cousins are filling, and which are simply too good to miss out on. Our aged Comte is proving simply irresistible, the Italian Gorgonzola is unbelievably decadent, and we now have a whole Delice de Bourgogne. This French beauty is made with not single, or double, but triple cream cheese that is rich and full-flavoured with a smooth, velvety, melt in the mouth texture.
