It’s Mothers Day this Sunday, and while it is still not possible to go for a nice lunch, you can cook up a storm while keeping things simple.  We have a superb range of scrummy produce to suit every Mum, from chocolates and gin to fillet steak and cheese.  We have local flowers, cakes, wonderful freshly made Ice Cream, and some incredible salted caramel sauce all to keep Mum sweet.

If you want to put on a Mothers Day lunch, then Lee has a special offer in the butchery counter for fillet steak and ribs of beef, while we also have local leg of lamb, racks or slow-cooked shoulder.  You could start with smoked trout and local watercress, and the fillets of trout take 6 minutes to cook and are delicious.  Finish with a lovely selection of cheeses, cake, and Ice Cream (Simon has made vanilla, mint choc chip, ginger and salted caramel).

On the treat front, we have Montezuma’s truffles, as well as a great selection of Summerdown Mints, while Tonys Chocolonely are hugely popular at the moment.  We have 15 different flavours of Montezumas chocolate bars, as well as their library selection of bars.

Don’t forget a bottle of bubbles or a snifter of gin.  Ashling Park’s cuvée won gold at the Decanter Awards, was made 4 miles down the road, and at £29.95 is better value than most mass-produced champagne on the market.  We have gins from Jarrolds, Chichester Harbour, Dampneys, Portsmouth Distillery, Pinkster, Corner 53 and Chilgrove, which should keep her happy, as well as local wine and cider.

We all need a reason to celebrate at the moment, so make sure to treat the Mum’s out there to something special, made locally with pride and care from some of our great producers.
