We have goat in the butchery and Seville oranges in season, and we’ve come up with two completely different recipes on the goat and orange theme.

Honey Glazed Goat Leg with Rosemary and Orange

Ingredients:

  • 1 goat leg (or smaller joint on the bone)
  • 2 oranges
  • 4 tablespoons of honey
  • 1 onion
  • 1 Bunch of Rosemary
  • Salt

Method

  • Salt the goat leg generously and place in a baking pan with the rosemary. Cover the pan with foil and bake for 2 hours at 180 *C Fan.
  • Take out of the oven and pour the juice of the 2 oranges and the honey.
  • Put it back in the oven covered for 30 minutes and then bake for another 30 minutes uncovered so that it gets crispy.
  • Ready to serve!

Recipe number two can be served either as a starter or a cheesy pudding.

Goat’s Cheese & Seville Marmalade

You can use homemade marmalade, or we have some fantastic Seville Orange marmalade in the shop.

Ingredients:

  • A round of goats cheese per person
  • Seville Orange (or similar) Marmalade (A generous dollop per person)
  • Brown Sugar

Method

  • Heat the grill.
  • Place the goats cheese on a non-stick tray and sprinkle over the brown sugar.
  • Pop this under the grill for about 4-5 minutes until the goats cheese begins to bubble and appears slightly crispy on top. Note that there is no need to turn them over. Withdraw from the grill and if you have a blow torch you can use this to finish off the top of the goats cheese.
  • Place on a serving dish and top with a considerate scoop of marmalade.
  • Ready to serve!
