Sarah has made some special Ukrainian Sausages (kovbasa), made with beef, pork, garlic, paprika and herbs, they are course ground and coiled. Each sausage weighs approximately 400g (about the same weight as one of our normal packs of 6 sausages) and costs £5.00. For each Ukrainian sausage that we sell, half the proceeds (£2.50) will be donated to the Disasters Emergency Committee’s Ukrainian Humanitarian Appeal.
We recommend that you bake these wonderful sausages in the oven having fried them for 3-4 minutes on each side first. They should be cooked after 25 minutes at 165°C. The traditional method is to cook them in simmering water for 5 minutes first, before drying and baking, in which case, use the same timings as above.
Serve with potatoes, roasted, mashed or potato salad, plenty of mustard, fried onions or rye bread.
