It’s the Coronation Weekend and a great excuse to gather and celebrate the best of British. Whether you are planning a special feast or picnic, street party, or a coronation chicken sandwich in front of the TV, we can help make your meal a moment to remember.
It’s a lovely time of year for local food, with the first fruits and vegetables coming into season, lamb at its tastiest, and our deli full of perfect picnic fare. We also have award-winning local charcuterie from Capreolus, Ashling Park Sparkling, Chichester gin and a Coronation Beer to help celebrate in style.
With the cold spring weather, asparagus season has been delayed until this week, but finally, Slade Farm’s asparagus will be with us this weekend, at £3.25 per bunch fresh from the farm. We also have a bright lineup of Isle of Wight Tomatoes, some St George’s wild Mushrooms, and Westlands Strawberries are back, at £2.85 per punnet of summer joy.
At the deli counter, we have Coronation Quiche, Wild Venison Scotch Eggs, Creedy Carver Duck Pies, Pork Pies, Beef & Ale and Chicken & tomato pies along with our sausage rolls, homemade brownies to go with the strawberries, and mighty choc chip cookies. You can curate your Coronation Cheeseboard, with Cornish Yarg, Witheridge in Hay, Old Winchester and Isle of Wight Blue and we have a new Coronation cheese, Sussex Blossom, made especially for the occasion by High Weald Dairy in West Sussex, using organic sheep milk. It is matured for a minimum of 4 months and then coated in edible organic Safflower and Calendula petals to make a delicious and visually spectacular cheese.
You can pre-order a crown of lamb, rib of beef, steaks, sausages and all the feast meats for a mighty roast or a sunshine BBQ, but it helps to pre-order on bigger joints and quantities so that we can be prepared.
