The cherry season is back, with perfect dark-red, shiny fruits bursting with flavour, having been picked off the trees of Godshill Orchard on the Isle of Wight and delivered in person to our door. This year has seen a much-reduced harvest due to the cold spring weather, however, those cherries that have made it are superb quality and utterly delicious.
Not only are these local cherries a scrummy treat, they are also good for you, being highly nutritious and packed with fiber, vitamins, and minerals. They are packed with polyphenols, antioxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds, and if you suffer from gout, then these are a great natural deterrent.
So not only are they locally grown, perfectly ripe and utterly delicious, they are also going to keep you healthy and happy.
Available in punnets £2.75 or 1kg boxes £11.95.
You can visit the orchard and stay the night, as Cherry Lodge has just opened, set amongst the cherry trees, near the charming village of Godshill on the Isle of Wight. Please visit www.godshillorchards.co.uk for more information…
