I’m vulnerable to a Florentine, there’s something about the combination of almond, caramel, fruit, and chocolate that is impossible to resist. Unfortunately, Vicky has started making homemade Florentines in the kitchen, and I secretly wish no one buys them so that we have to take them home, but so far they have been flying off the deli shelf.
I would rate them as the best biscuit in the world, and an ideal seasonal treat. The balance of crunch and chew, with the fruit, nut and chocolate combination, will ensure that every last crumb is licked from the plate.
These accompany our homemade brownies and giant chocolate chip cookies which are perfect for all the family, but really the Florentines are for the grown-ups, they are simply too good to hand out to kids. They can buy their own.
