Hedgerow Foraging and Folklore Walk
24 September 2016 from 11:30 - 14:00
£35.00
Explore the superstitions, folklore and folk medicine of the hedgerows with Christine from The Hedgerow Apothecary. Learn how our ancestors used wild plants, nuts and berries to keep themselves healthy and their families safe from bad luck and witches.
This hedgerow foraging course will be a walk along Stansted’s beautiful footpaths, finding out what edible goodies are available to forage from the South Downs landscape. There will also be a tour of the Stansted Estate orchard where you can sample some unusual heritage apples.
On return to the farm shop, you will prepare your harvest for lunch that will be supplemented with some wild Stansted game, flat breads from the pizza oven and some pudding.
Please bring walking boots and a coat – you will need to be able to cross over styles. Please let us know if there are any dietery requirements. Meet up at the farm shop where we will walk directly.
