Description

We have 4 new wines back from Danebury Vineyards that are not only excellent value, but recent award-winners, with Danebury Reserve 2018 winning Gold Medal for best English still wine in the English wine category at the Sommelier Wine Awards, as well as the Best Wine by the Glass, described as  ‘A dry wine with bright acidity, lemon, lime and green apple skin notes and a limestone finish.’

There is one sparkling and 3 still whites to choose from:

Cossack Sparkling Wine 2019 – £29.99
Our Cossack vintage sparkling wine is made from a blend of the Auxerrois Blanc (Auxerrois Blanc is a cross between Gouais Blanc and Pinot Noir, which have the same ancestry as Chardonnay), and Rulander grapes (a German synonym for Pinot Gris). It is made using the traditional bottle fermentation method and aged for at least four years on its lees. The name Cossack is taken from the Danebury trained 1847 Epsom Derby winner.

Suitable for vegans and vegetarians

Madeleine Angevine 2018 – currently out of stock
Madeleine Angevine is a white wine grape from the Loire Valley in France which is popular in the United Kingdom. Madeleine Angevine makes an attractive fruity wine with a flowery nose, similar to an Alsatian Pinot Blanc. It is crisp and dry, and pairs particularly well with seafoods such as scallops and oysters.

Suitable for vegans and vegetarians.

Schönburger 2018 – £14.99
Schönburger is a hybrid of Pinot Noir and another grape, itself a hybrid of Chasselas and Muscat Hamburg. An appealing aromatic dry white wine. A lovely accompaniment to fish, chicken and sauce based dishes.

Suitable for vegans and vegetarians.

‘Danebury is an expert producer of this floral, enchanting grape and this delicious white wine is one of my favourites ever made from this variety. The perfect aperitif style wine, it is also delicious with smoked salmon and seafood starters. It is the vinous equivalent of a lazy stroll through the beautiful English countryside in bloom.’ Matthew Jukes, Daily Mail 11/5/19

Reserve 2018 – currently out of stock
A skilful blend of all our grape varieties, this wine displays a complex combination of the fruitiness of the Madeleine Angevine, the crisp acidity of the Schonburger, the structure of the Auxerrois, all complemented by the subtle influence of the Rulander. It has plenty of minerality on the finish and works well with a variety of dishes due to its complex flavour and crisp acidity.

Danebury Reserve 2018 won a Gold Medal for the best English Still Wine and Best Wine by The Glass at 2020 at the International Sommelier Wine Awards, London.
