We are excited to bring you Smoked Salmon that is free from antibiotics, hormones, and pesticides, having been reared in pristine waters from a fully sustainable, land-based fish farm on the Reykjanes peninsula in Iceland.
Finally we can eat salmon again without having to worry about damaging the coastal environment for wild salmon, as Silverscale salmon are land-locked in lava-filtered water where the waste is filtered out and used for compost. Land-based aquaculture is the modern way of rearing salmon in a controlled environment, away from affecting any other species and without hormones, antibiotics or pesticides. It’s the only way of sustainably farming salmon amidst the growing movement against open cage salmon farming at sea which is not only environmentally damaging but has also become a very important animal welfare issue.
Silverscale Salmon are then smoked by Chris, the founder of Upton Smokery who has been in the food business for 20 years, at his smokery in Burford, before he delivers this beautiful fish to us.
The traditionally cured and smoked salmon is long-sliced, and available in the following pack sizes: 100g, 200g, 400g and 1kg. At the moment we are just taking pre-orders for Christmas, but hope to have a regular supply of this delicious smoked salmon in the spring.
