Description
Witheridge in Hay is the first UK cheese to be matured in hay. As a result, the cheese has notable grassy notes similar to an alpine cheese, with sweet, savoury and earthy tones. This is made with organic milk from Rose Grimond’s family farm at the Nettlebed Creamery in Henley-On-Thames.
The cheese won three Gold Stars at the Great Taste Awards in 2019, and like many British cheeses, came about from dairy farmers who wanted to create a market that appreciated their cows produce. The hay is grown especially using grasses and herbs that give maximum flavour to the cheese.
